Blythe Runway Challenge

We could choose any character from Alice In Wonderland, so I chose the Mad Hatter because I thought of the different outfit pieces and just thought it would be fun to do it in my style. I made lots of pieces to mix around. I like to think the winner of this outfit will mix all the pieces with the wardrobe they already have and totally give it their own look. I'm always so fascinated by the way people style their dollies. Here is a link to my auction, if you're interested: http://cgi.ebay.com/Blythe-Runway-Challenge-BRC-Mad-Hatter-Outfit_W0QQitemZ270383294511QQihZ017QQcategoryZ36546QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Still working on the movie!

I'm still crazy busy working on this movie, but I've been getting really into dollies lately. I'm at work for 11 hours + 3 hours of commute, so I'm really tired, usually. I missed the big Portland dolly meet because I had to work on a Saturday. This production doesn't end until May. It's been good for me, though. It's kinda like I've joined a tribe.

So since I'm working more than I ever have in my life, I'm earning more money than I'm used to and it's really hard not to spend it on the weekends. My Kenner lust is really bad, but I've stuck to my rule that I can't have one until my debt is fully paid. I made that rule 3 years ago! So next month I'll be out of debt and it's gonna feel amazing.

I am in heaven, though. The set is the size of 3 football fields and it's all Blythe scale. I'm learning new ways to craft tiny things. Right now I'm in armatures and my main task is making her freakishly long delicate hands. I watched the samples on Friday, and they've got the fingers linking together, twiddling and shuffling around- makes me nervous about my craftsmanship! This is really fun but I hope I can transfer to costuming at some point because that's where my heart seems to be right now. I love everything I'm learning. I'm thinking of how I might use these methods in the Blythe world.

I did start to make her a dress of her own that was kind of inspired by ther stock outfit, but I need to finish it. She is the best Mokoko ever, in my oppinion. I might sell my Mamemomoko because I haven't had time to give her attention and I'm not sure I will with Pip Squeak, the Moofs, Peteena and now Kana...

...because my beauty inspires art! If I didnt look this way Im sure I wouldnt have a live in dressmaker at my disposal at all times. Sometimes I feel guilty but I realize that life just isnt fair. She has nothing better to do anyway.

I have been somewhat irked about modeling dresses I dont get to keep over the past few months. So I decided I would have a dress of my own made. I chose some pretty blue silk that brings out my eyes, and then I chose the bead colors. I had the dress custom formed to my petite little frame.

While she was making it I got to soak in the tub and relax.

And now it's done!
New dolly and some clothes....

Hey there- it's been a while! I just wanted to share my new dolly and the outfit I made her. I got her a while back but just haven't shared. She's the original Huna- I wanted a no-bangs girl for a change. That forehead is a little hard to get used to though, so she immediately inspired me to make this hat with a huge bow on the front! I normally wouldn't do that, but it kinda went with the vintage theme that I started when I chose this vintage green fabric. The coat has bows on the pockets too. I really like her in green.
Here's the link to this set on Flickr:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/24596870@N00/sets/72057594105824626/
Then last night I was fiddling around with felt and ended up making this EASY cape and boot set for Suna:

I was glad I found a use for the mohair I bought by mistake ages ago. I had my hysterectomy a few weeks ago and they got everything out, thankfully. I don't have to have chemo! I was super happy for a long time, just thrilled to be alive and stuff. But now I'm back to taking things for granted and wishing I had money to buy STUFF. Hahaha.

Unfortunately I just learned that I have cancer and must undergo a complete hysterectomy soon. I do think I'm gonna beat the cancer, because it's just "low malignant tumor"- it's just kind of a bummer though.

I am pretty ok about not being able to have kids. This only confirms what I've known in my heart for a long time: that I'm meant to adopt or become a foster parent. I grew up next door to a foster home, and the parents were such trash. They spoiled their own kids but the foster kids were treated horribly. So early on I saw that there was a terrible shortage of good foster homes. Of course, I need to get my own life together before I can even think about taking in kids....

So... I think I'm gonna become more deeply submerged into dollyland for the next few months. I thought of going hog wild with my credit card, but then I came to my senses. Haha!

It was one of those projects where I thought I would do a minimal amount of beading, but I was never satisfied with the way it looked so I kept adding and adding until the whole thing was covered. I did practically the whole thing while visiting my mom, so it was a nice way to pass the time. I'm kinda beaded out now. I haven't been to enough powwows this year- that's usually what really fires up my inspiration. I want to make more embroidered dresses next. I'm gonna be house-bound due to surgery for a few weeks, so that will be the perfect excuse!

I feel very badly that I can't get pics that do this Kimono justice! The print of the fabric drives me NUTS, but it's actually an eyelet with sweet decorative stitching and little holes that you can't see in the pics. I can't stop staring at it. The contrasting texture of the sash, with the pop of green makes my eyes so happy. I'm afraid I'm gonna have to buy the other two when I order Huna as soon as possible.

I finnished this beaded dress a few weeks ago, and just finally got around to photographing it. It's a shame I don't know how to take pics! I made it with the idea of eBaying it, but I still haven't decided if I want to keep it.

Tromp L'oeil Dress

I realized I haven't made any dresses for my Blythe girls, so I finished embroidering this little dress today:

I found these wadded up scraps of beige linen under my ironing board, so I decided to use them. I was gonna do some really colorful hippy designs, but ended up going with a plain black tromp l'oeil theme. I think it looks pretty cute on my new GG, even though it's still wet. I'd like to do a whole series of these- I have so many ideas now!

..but Dewey wanted to show off her new overalls in the very first post.

I made them with orriettacat's wonderful pattern. They remind me of a pair I had in 1984, that I was so proud of. I also made her this plain white tee last night. It was so hard not to embellish it with cute stuff, but she really needed a plain white tee so I used some self control.

I am gonna keep trying with the pics. I never know how much they suck until I upload them to my computer. Lol. The battery life of my camera is about 5 minutes, and it takes 4 AA's, so I'm always nervous about wasting time and never really feel like I can experiment. I need to get a new one, and I'm sure a tripod wouldn't hurt!
